Happy Wednesday! We’re starting to see proper spring temperatures already, and grass is inching its way out of dormancy. You might be wondering if you should start turning your irrigation systems on, and how much you should be watering.

Your lawn needs 1 inch of water per week total. We’ve had a good amount of rain, especially at night, so you want to be careful not to overwater. We recommend a rain gauge to give you an idea of how much rain your lawn receives. If it’s less than 1 inch a week, you’ll need to run your system enough to get to that 1 inch total.

Be very careful not to overwater right now. Overly wet lawns can encourage lawn fungus and lawn bugs. You probably don’t need to water your yard more than once per week at the moment.

We hope this helps! If you have any questions, leave them below. If you need any help with your sprinkler system- turning it back on, making its running properly, etc., give us a call at 318-286-0967 and our irrigation experts would be happy to help. Have a good one!
