Christmas light timers are great! You set it and forget it. They take the hassle out of having to plug in and unplug your lights every evening. But make sure that you have a timer with a built in battery! At some point, you may lose power, and if you don’t have a timer with a built-in battery, all your programmed settings will disappear. We use digital timers with a backup battery for that reason. It’s a hassle to go out and reprogram all of your settings, so when you’re buying a timer, check to see if it has the backup battery.
