Bagworms: Take Action NOW

This is the time of year we see bagworms on landscape plants. Early signs of bagworm injury are brown and stressed needles/leaves at the tips. At first, it may look like an irrigation issue, but more water won’t help. If you see these bags on your plant(s), you need to act fast. You’ll want to remove and destroy the bags and spray the entire plant thoroughly with an insecticide. We recommend using a micro-encapsulated product that can sustain the elements. It’s best to treat in the late evening or at dusk during cooler parts of the day when the bagworms are actively feeding. Be sure to be proactive and check your plants often because the earlier you catch this problem, the easier it is to prevent further damage to the plant.
