Backflow is a term in plumbing for an unwanted flow of water in the reverse direction. It can be a serious health risk for contamination. Backflow testing assesses pressure levels of your backflow preventer device and can help ensure dirty water does not infiltrate your water system. When the pressure in a water system isn’t maintained, the risk for water to flow backward into the water system and become contaminated is greatly increased. Backflow testing monitors the health and safety mechanisms designed to protect water purity.

The Louisiana State Plumbing Code requires that backflow prevention assemblies be tested annually, or more frequently if required in the Plumbing Code or by the manufacturer and that the test results be submitted to the proper plumbing official and Louisiana Water Company in a timely manner.
