Summer Watering Tips: How Long Do I Water My Yard?

How long do I water my yard in the summer? Your yard needs 1 inch of water per week, preferably broken into 2 watering sessions. Put some kind of measuring device in each of your zones (a rain gauge, collection cups, etc.), then time how long it takes to fill up 1/2 inch of water. That’s how long you should water per session.

This means 1/2 inch of water, twice a week, for a total of 1 inch of water per week. It’s important to keep on top of your summer watering, so your lawn doesn’t succumb to heat stress.

We offer irrigation services, including sprinkler system installations and repairs, as well as irrigation assessments and calibrations. If you want to know exactly how long you need to water and/or have someone set your timers for you, we’d be happy to help.
