How to set up your planter pot

Using large flowers pots are a great way to add some color and beauty to any boring patio.  When you are using them as planter, you want to make sure you are taking the correct steps to get the best results.

1st:  Make sure the pot has a hole in the bottom so that it can drain water.

2nd:  Use a piece of fabric to cover the holes up.  Then fill the bottom 1/4 of the pot with rocks.  Now cover the rocks with a fabric.  This will allow water to pass through but not the dirt.

3rd:  Fill the planter up with a quality potting soil.  Make sure to leave yourself room at the top to plant flowers with out overflowing the pot.

Using the rocks and landscape fabric serve a couple of purposes.  The rock allows the water to drain all the way out of the bottom.  The fabric allows the rocks and soil to remain separate and allows just clean water to come out of the bottom.  When planting also make sure you get a varity of shapes and colors to give it a bright and fun look.

If you want to set yourself up for success, just complete those few steps and you will be happy with your results!  If you have any questions, let us know.  Have a great day!
