This week we don’t have one plant of the week, but two: Phlox subulata and Phlox divaricata.

Phlox subulata is an evergreen, flowering ground cover that comes in white, pink, or blue/purple and grows to 8 inches tall. It prefers full sun, with some dappled afternoon shade.

Phlox divaricata is also an evergreen ground cover, and it’s a true native to Louisiana! These can come in white, red, and pink, but are mostly light blue blooms. They grow to 20 inches tall. This phlox prefers part shade and can grow where most flowering plants can’t.

Both of these species bloom through spring and early summer. During the rest of the year, they offer lush, green ground cover. If you have any questions, let us know!
