Our plant of the week this week is Texas sage, also known as barometer bush. This is because it seems to bloom after a rainstorm or an increase in humidity. This sage does well in zones 8-10 and grows up to 8 feet tall and 6 ft wide. Its grayish-green leaves make it a good backdrop for more vibrant flowers. However, it does produce tiny purple, white, or pink flowers and can bloom all year long. Texas sage does best in full sun, well-draining soil and is considered low maintenance. It’s considered drought tolerant, thrives in extreme heat, but can also handle temps as low as to 12F. If you’re looking for a low maintenance, sun and heat-loving bush, Texas sage might be for you!
