Do you know what causes root rot in your lawns?
Root rot is a lawn fungus that can quickly destroy your entire lawn. Many people know that fungus thrives in moist environments, but it’s not the only cause. A stressed-out lawn is susceptible to many fungus and diseases.
Stress can be caused by excess heat or drought, improper mowing, soil compaction, poor drainage, thatch buildup, and overuse of herbicides. To combat this, make sure your lawn is getting 1 inch of water a week, mow to the proper height for your grass type, aerate your yard to reduce compaction, install drainage systems if needed, de-thatch your yard, and avoid root-damaging herbicides. Another step to a resilient yard is applying fertilizer at the correct time of year.
