The first day of August is tomorrow, which means it’s time to trim knockout and drift roses. These roses grow tall, leaving the bottom of the plant in shade. You can use your hedge trimmers to cut half of the plant away, and that will allow sun to get to the bottom, promoting new growth. Make sure you wear gloves to avoid the thorns! This will also encourage them to grow thicker and fuller. You should see new, green growth in a few weeks.
