We love the fall weather we’ve had this week, but lawn fungus does too. The two types we see here are brown patch and take-all root. Root rot looks like highlighter green grass at the start, before becoming uneven patches of dead/thinning grass. It spreads quickly and is more common in the spring.

Brown patch appears as circular patches of yellow/brown grass that become larger as it progresses. It’s more common in the fall.

It’s best to act fast if you think you have fungus, as it can destroy your entire yard. You’ll want to rule out lookalike issues such as chinch bugs before you start to treat it. We spray fungicide on lawns that have fungus, although they require different types, so double-check the label before you buy it.

If you have any questions, let us know! We have lawn application packages available that help prevent weeds, fungus, and fire ants.
