Do you know if your lawn’s soil is compacted? Here’s one easy way to tell. Take a screwdriver and try to poke it into your soil. It should be fairly easy to do so. If it’s hard to push it in, and you’re having a lot of resistance, it can be from being too dry or from compaction. If you’re watering properly, then you may want to look into treating for compaction. Core aeration can help break up the soil, allowing air, water, and other nutrients to flow through it easier. It can reduce compaction and thatch buildup as well.
