Now that it is warming up, the temptation to get out and trim can be very strong! Remember though that several of your shrubs are getting ready to put on a bloom show so make sure you don’t trim the wrong things just yet. Azaleas are one of those plants. Around April they will be full of bright and beautiful blooms but if you trim them now, you will remove a ton of the buds and be left with disappointment! The same is true for hawthorns, Loropetalums and any of your other spring bloomers. If anything you may want to give them some food now and again in about 3-4 months.
