We have 18 days until the first day of fall! That means it’s time to start thinking about something spooky: weeds. Pre-emergent herbicides prevent weeds in flower beds and lawns. These applications interrupt the seed’s development process and help prevent them from breaching the soil. Timing is KEY with pre-emergents, because you need to apply it before the weeds you’re trying to prevent start germinating.
This is more reliable than trying to control weeds once they’ve started growing above the soil and start expelling seeds. It’s like fighting a losing battle at that point.
We apply fall pre-emergents in October/November to prevent wintertime weeds, as well as some weeds that appear in March and April. Our program consists of 6 applications per year including pre-emergents, root development, and fertilizer so you can have a healthy, weed free lawn, all year round.
